Program Catalogue

29 program modules — this is what a young person actually does here

Not “life skills training.” A named module, a set number of sessions, and something concrete in their hands at the end: a filed application, a signed lease-ready checklist, a booked intake, a plan they wrote themselves.

How to read this catalogue

Modules are grouped by the three pillars the program is built on, because that is how a young person's time here is actually organised — and because “Wave 3” means something to us and nothing to you.

Each module page states the promise in the young person's own language, how many sessions it runs, how long each one is, and exactly what they leave with. Modules are built to connect: several of them hand a piece of work forward to another, and each page names which ones.

Every module ends in a New Steps Certificate. It is competence-based — it records what the young person can now do, demonstrated on a real task and signed off by the facilitator. There is no grade, no score and no ranking on it.

Rooted in Culture

Culture, land and art — hosted by New Steps, authored and led by Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

In development with our Elder advisory

Elders and Knowledge Keepers author and lead this work. New Steps hosts the container — the welcome, the food, the transport, the logistics — and never writes, teaches or tests a teaching. Until the advisory has authored a module, we do not publish a description of it.

  • Seven Teachings Series
  • Cultural Arts
  • Land-Based Weekends

Also offered

Runs alongside the three pillars.

  • Sport & Recreation

Come move, play, and be part of a team — your way. A partner runs the sport. New Steps brings the food, the ride, and the room. You just show up. Showing up and playing is the win.

Thinking about a referral?

A caseworker reaches out, we book a tour, and we work out together whether this is the right fit. When a room is open, a referral can come together in about a week. When we are full, we will say so rather than leave you waiting.

New Steps is not an emergency placement service — we do not take same-day or overnight placements.
